Algonquin Professor Self-Publishes His “Richtoons”

Richtoon book coverRich Lauzon, a professor of General Arts and Science’s Pre-Animation and Illustration program and creator of the new Introduction to Concept Art program, has a big announcement to make: He is in the process of self-publishing his first book, The Art of Richtoon.

“I am a huge fan of artist sketchbooks and art books. I have 500 of them. I use them as a mini library for my students for reference and inspiration. Over the years, many of my students and colleagues asked me why I don’t have my own sketch book published? After so many people saying it, I finally had to give it some serious thought.” Reflects Rich “So now I will have my own Art of Rich book.”

2010 Art ShowFaculty of Arts, Media and Design Art Show
Wednesday, November 10th
3:00 PM – 6:00 PM

What started out as a small art show to exhibit the works of Design Studies faculty has blossomed into a full fledge creative event including artists, musicians, writers and singers.
On Wednesday November 10th, the Faculty of Arts Media and Design will hold its 4th Annual Art Show. The show features the work of staff and teachers. Exhibits run the gamut from board games to intricate oil paintings. One impromptu addition last year was a musical submission from Television professor Randy Dash and Dean Russell Mills – before long singers were coaxed to join the duo on stage.
The show has now developed not only an audience, but a long list of exhibitors. This year a harpist and poet will join the mix as well as some digital art from faculty.
The informal vibe is enticing and it’s a great way to see art the way it is meant to be enjoyed.
Where they find the time to create is anybody’s guess – but the teachers and staff in the Faculty of Arts, Media and Design produce some of the most innovative art you will ever see.
This free event takes place in T102 and runs from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Wine and cheese is served and the hospitality flows.
