Introduction to Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) Classroom

What is it?

As more programs at Algonquin go BYOD, there are a number of new teaching technologies available.
In this session, we will cover BYOD related topics while demonstrating equipment and software available to support learning and teaching within a BYOD classroom.

Why do I need it?

Is your program going BYOD? You are bound to have many questions. What is a BYOD program at Algonquin? What does “Bring Your Own Device” mean for students and faculty? What can faculty expect to have within a typical BYOD classroom? What are key ideas to know for getting students connected and engaged within a BYOD environment? This session will touch on these topics.

What I am going to get out of this session?

This workshop will review hardware such as: Extron eclassroom Control System, SMART Podiums, HP Touchscreen Monitors, and troubleshooting.

Advanced Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) Classroom Techniques (Prerequisites: Introduction to BYOD Classroom)

What is it?

This session builds on the previous introduction to BYOD classroom. Now that you have completed Introduction to the BYOD Classroom, we will explore additional tools for engaging students and managing your BYOD classroom 

Why do I need it?

You have an opportunity to enhance your educational technologies skills and learn more about BYOD classroom.

 

What I am going to get out of this session?

You will have a chance to experience programs, such as Join.me, Ink2go, as well as other interactive tools and activities. You will also have a change to brainstorm additional activities with assistance and feedback from your colleagues.
